Indonesia Stay Cool

This week will be a saddest week for this month for Indonesian. Terrorists attack on Thursday January 14th, 2016 in Thamrin, Jakarta, Indonesia. It made us shocked, sad and heart attack. But, we try to be strong and stand for ourselves. There are a lot of differences that made me always love Indonesia because our togetherness. The differences when the bomb attacks between us and another country are:

1. Still Selling His Satay

We have a lot of street food and this is one of them. This satay seller now being famous because he still sell when the bomb attacks 100 meters away from the crime scene.

2. Get Together Rather Than Hide Behind The Wall
I know it is sound stupid, rather than hide and stay away from the bomb, we get together in the street and see what was going on. But maybe this moment represent one of our culture gotong royong. But, hey Indonesian, next time we should be more aware and keep people around you safe like you do.

3. This Gojek Guy is the Daredevil

Abang gojek show how brave he is and care for others. Gojek is an Indonesian courier services that can buy and send us food, packages, bring us somewhere with the motorcycle, drive the household assistant or massagers and a lot more. And I give him two thumbs up because of what he did. And even the Go-Jek driver seems disregard his own safety.

4. Don't Judge Before Know the Fact

Untung Sangaji - Bomb task force police, who previously stay in Walnut Cafe and secured the crossing path of President, had suspected as the bomber. But suddenly he turned out boldly to go to the combat zone and shoot two terrorists who have another 4 bombs to be blown up.

And only Indonesian that try to support our family with positive words and stand strong against terrorist. Now let me say that we are not afraid #KamiTidakTakut because Indonesia unite #IndonesiaBersatu and for Jakarta, #JakartaKuat!

JAKARTA ATTACK: Bomb and Gunfire Rock Our Capital

Jakarta, capital of our home sweet home Indonesia got attacked by terrorist last Thursday 14/01/2016. I knew this info 49 minutes after accident and couple minutes before I went to bed. Of course this hot news suddenly made a heart attack. Shock, gloomy, sad and mourn suddenly knock my mind. Even though my family

Not only in Jakarta, Istanbul, Philadelphia, multiple locations in Libya, the Russian republic of Dagestan within the past two weeks, they all also have been the target of attacks by ISIS supporters or affiliates, killing and wounding dozens of people.

As we know that Indonesia is the major producer of coffee especially from Sumatra and we all know that there are a lot of coffee shop and Starbucks in Indonesia. According to a spokesman for the Jakarta police, one of attacker blew himself up inside at a Starbucks, Thamrin, Jakarta, Indonesia. Two gunmen also opened fire outside the coffee shop, shooting people on the street.

But in a statement, Starbucks said "initial reports are that an explosion took place close to our store in the Skyline building" It also said one customer was injured but all of its employees are confirmed to be safe. And the Starbucks wasn't the main target by terrorist.

And also before Thamrin Boom, a strange people asked for DPR-People's Representative Council's building plan. General Secretary of DPR Republik Indonesia said that the staff that have a responsible to keep the building plan didn't gave it to them. She said that there is no one ever asked about that and she said that they keep the parliament plan secretly and safely. And now the access to the entrance being restricted.

Indonesian terrorist observer; Najahan Musyafak said that the blast perpetrators in Thamrin looked really professional by their psychologist because they seems like to be in public and did the shooting on members of Indonesian police around them and skillful to use the firearms in the general public. Luhut explained that terrorists want to show their existences and their skills to conduct their operations everywhere, including in major countries such as USA, UK, France and Indonesia.

There were four bombs around Thamrin, Jakarta and there are 24 victims

And actually I want to put everything in here but I think it might be too long so I will just give you several link that are likely related to this accident so here we go.
And as you can see I put some sources only from CNN because I think for you guys who speak different language might translate it with their tools easier than if I use another sources. And I just checked CNN USA and CNN Indonesia is completely different. In CNN USA they focus on bombing in Starbucks but the fact is the bomb is not only in Starbucks. And in this post I hope we can be more clear what just happened last Thursday and be more sympathy with our family-Indonesia nation.

We all know Indonesia is really a social freak that have a lot of social medias and in a day can posts and easily make a trending topics. So instead of using #PrayForIndonesia and #PrayforJakarta we also must support our Bangsa Nusantara by using a positive words for the hashtag like #KamiTidakTakut (We are not afraid) because #IndonesiaUnite (Indonesia bersatu) and #JakartaKuat (Jakarta is Strong). Pray and do more for our Sriwedari Indonesia!

Decide What's Your 2016 Resolution

I am so excited to write this post. Because it is about resolution! My resolution for last year [2015] are to get a better school grade, do more exercise and learn a new culture. And Alhamdulillah I got everything done! But, it doesn't mean that I stop and not to do it again this year. But I will keep it up and add more resolution that I can do this year.

Maybe some of you still wondering, what is resolution. Resolution is like an act for people to promise ourselves to do some selves improvements. Some people make a resolution too high without look at their reality and it just make the resolution pop up in another year. And some people just don't know how to start to make a list for 2016 resolution. So, now I want you guys to choose what kind of resolution that you might think that you can accomplish.

  • Improve health
Good body shape and good skin is everybody dream and there are a lot of ways to do that. Exercise, is one of the easy and green budget that everyone can do. But can we realize that we always postpone to do exercise or we just feel excited in the first then when we loss some kilos we just left and say good bye to exercise. So we need to think, brainstorming, what kind of exercise that we can do for a year. Maybe we can apply to the gym class and ask for instructor so whatever the reason is we always go there because we have a schedule that always catch us. Or we can try for dance or martial arts, because we move and that is a fun exercise for me. Another one, in my back home Indonesia, we have Car Free Day every Sunday, so I like to jogging every Sunday. Maybe you can just do stretching and a simple 30' exercise after or before school/work. Or there is also swimming class that you can take. There are a lot of fun and simple exercise that you might never think before. There are a lot of simple exercise ideas on YouTube, find what kind of exercise that you want to do, download and save it in whatever your device is and try to do it in once a week on the first three months, twice a week on the next three months and three times a week on the last three months! And voila you get better than ever!
  • Happier
What is happy means to you? More money without working hard and just chilling? For me yes, it sounds happiness to me. But, I can't say it is impossible but I also can't say it is possible. So, just make it real. It depends on our condition now. Some people have money but not happy and some people are broke but a lot happier than someone who get more money. So where we can find the happiness? Well, we can get it from everywhere. Whatever we get, be thankful, because we already do our best and if you do it right without take another people rights we can be happier than ever. We also can do something for people around us, give charity or help them, maybe it just a little thing that we can do can make them get a better life too and who don't like to see someone happier and heard thank you with the happy smile? Better work on it, dude. Doing one small act of kindness every week.
  • Better school or work life
School, work, monday, we all hate those words. We hate it if we lack of it. We hate it if everything is going crazy and feels like you just don't want to do it anymore. But, let see what we can do to make everything better. Getting more organize, at first, we might so excited to be more organize and buy some cool agenda like a busy guy catching a train every minute. But, that's not the point to be more organize. With every book we can do it. As long as we write what we need to do for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we will be good. And also make a reminder in your actual calendar and calendar in your phone and everything get more organize then. Make a to do list on the fridge door is also a good idea, because we always open the fridge to get some drink or we just hang out in front of the fridge and do nothing and the reminder will catch you that you still have some stuff to get done. So, get more organize this year and everything will feels so right and good luck!

  • Better relationship

  •                     Better relationship makes everything feels right, better relationship with family, relatives, friends, co-workers, best friends, your wing man or maybe someone you just know or someone that you don't want to see again. Calling them more often again, you might say that you are too busy for that. But, there is no busy if it's a priority. When their birthday is coming up, try to make a simple thing but still special for them, not only text happy birthday to them but also give them an actual birthday card. It will be so sweet and they will remember that you give them attention about them. Giving out a random compliment each day. It seems gombal, but who knows if it's works for you all relationship. Then the last thing for this new year, don't forget to make some awesome AF memories with people around you and every year you will be a better person than ever!
Happy New Year - Selamat Tahun Baru!
So, what is your 2016 resolutions? Leave the comment and tell me what are they ❤

INDONESIAN ARE TERRORIST?

Hello, people around the world. Today, I want to share as Muslim Indonesian, the truth about who we are. Okay this topic seems hard for everybody to accept but I just want to tell a slice of truth who we are. And I'm really sick of these with the whole statement and question in here when I said I'm Muslim. And people comes with lot of judgement and sentiment. I know in here, America, they have a really high racism about this, religion, where the woman wear hijab and the man have a thick beard. And every September 11 all of the school play 9/11 movies and another students start staring on us and petrify that we are on of them.

Guys, are you kidding me? We even as an Indonesian really hate terrorist. Okay you might not interesting what I said but I will show you numbers and facts that your media told to you about the real us.

Indonesia, the home of Islam Nusantara, widely seen as one of the most progressive Islamic movements in the world. The movement - its name is Indonesian for 'East Indies Islam' - dates back more than 500 years and promotes a spiritual interpretation of Islam that stresses nonviolence, inclusiveness and acceptance of other religions.

Analysts say the theology developed organically in a place where Hinduism and Buddhism were the primary religions before Islam arrived around the 13th century. Indonesian Islam blended with local religious beliefs and traditions, creating a pluralistic society despite having a Muslim majority.
Indonesia today has more than 190 million Muslims, but also has a secular governement and influental Christian, Hindu and Buddhist minoroties.

The campaign by Nahdlatul Ulama, known as NU, for a liberal, pluralistic Islam also comes at a time when Islam is at war with itself over central theological questions of how the faith is defined in the modern era.

NU has established a nonprofit organization, Bayt Ar-Rahmah, in Winston-Salem, NC., which will be the hub for international activities including conferences and seminars to promote Indonesia's tradition of nonviolent, pluralistic Islam,
Mr. Yahya

NU is also working with the University of Vienna in Austria, which collects and analyzes ISIS propaganda, to prepare responses to those messages, which NU will disseminate online and at conferences.

We are directly challenging the idea of ISIS, which wants Islam to be uniform, meaning that if there is any other idea of Islam that is not following their ideas, those people are infidels who must be killed. We will show that is not the case with Islam.

- Yahya Cholil Staquf, general secretary to the NU supreme council

And if you keep saying that we are terrorist. FYI. We also got suffered several deadly terrorist attacks by Islamic militants in recent years that have killed hundreds, including bombings on the resort island of Bali in 2002 and 2005 and at five star international Hotels in Jakarta in 2003 and 2009. Did you know that before? I bet mostly you will say no. And another truth, we had jihadi groups before, Jemaah Islamiyah but we also crushed them.

Now, open your mind, are you keep saying that terrorist are the real Muslim if they also attack us, Indonesia as the country that has a largest Muslim population than any other country in the world.

Hey guys, remember this, Muslim Indonesian is different from what you thought, we live so peacefully with another religions. You will be surprised when I told you that we have almost 18000 island, 742 languages, around 300 ethnicity and 6 religions. We all unite together. Only with this number, we can show how happy we are. If you keep saying all of the Muslim are terrorist, please don't be stupid. I know you are really smart. It's like when you go to school and learn Science, Mathematics, Language or Social Studies. If you never learn them before, and you just heard how bad it is or how hard it is from another people you will never know how beautiful or easy they are.

And the way we show the right Islam is that we flood the space, as I said in my last post about Indonesian is a social freak, we flood the space and telling the truth, explaining and showing the facts.

Hadieh Mirahmadi, president of the World Organization for Resource Development and Education, an organization based in Washington that works to combat extremism, said that,

according to open source data, supporters of the Islamic State were sending an average of 2.8 million messages a  day to their followers on Twitter.

"Who's going to counter that?"

"It's what they are doing in Indonesia, it's hat we are doing in the US and in other places. You flood the space and you hope people get the right messages."

Look, we are Islamic and we have several values, but we also respect local cultures. You can not say that we are the same Islam like the others. And I can say that we respect local cultures because as a fact, we have the biggest Buddhist Temple in the world (Borobudur) and we have a lot of Buddhist and Hinduism temples and I'm so proud of those and I also love to go there because its beauty. Not only temples, we have another religion heritage that I always proud of.

Thank you and I hope you have a better understanding about us.

Indonesia is the Winner for This

Maybe if you are not Indonesian, you don't know that Indonesian is a social freak. We all love to talk and being connected. Why I can say Indonesian is a social freak even though we all know in another country people like to talk. Indonesian also has a lot like a LOT of Social Media in our phone. And I can't deny I have almost ten social media in my phone. And in another side when I'm here in America all of my friends just use Text, Snapchat and Twitter. But we, as Indonesian we use more, because we always says 'we want more'. Okay kidding. We use WhatsApp, Line, Path, Foursquare, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Kaskus, G+ and so on. At least in each Indonesian phone we have five social media.

Then, a lot of people asked me, what language do you guys speak? Well, I can't tell you specifically as general because we all mixed up. Even Wikipedia said that...

Most Indonesians speak at least one of the several hundred local languages and dialects, often as their first language. And there are around 300 distinct native ethnic groups in Indonesia, and 742 different languages and dialects.

But, BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA, our motto does exist. Unity in Diversity.

Even though we have 6 religions, 300 ethnics, 742 native languages, we all unite as Indonesian an speak Indonesian. So, if you ask Indonesian, what languages that you speak, me personally would say I speak Indonesian, Javanese and English. But, in Indonesia if we go travelling to another island or another city, we likely to learn a couple sentences to get a cheaper prices when we want to buy souvenir in traditional market.

Well, lets go back to the topic. What Indonesia win in this topic. We speak more than one language or two language, mostly we speak 3+ languages. And if you check on Google Translate, Javanese already go to International, Guys! This research conduct by SwiftKey Keyboard Application that gave us a fantastic information what the different languages their users are typing in.

So, hello Indonesian out there. Hello from the other side. We should be proud as Indonesian. Why? Look how rich we are. We have a lot of heritage, beauty of ethnicity, gorgeous view and amazing diversity, we should be more proud and happy. I know we all are happy already but let's show what we have and what we can do. Stop complaining and do our best to make our name get bigger and bigger. I'm blessed being Indonesian and Damn! I love Indonesia.

Jadi begini....

Halo Ibuk. Cieileh dibuka postnya. Buk, aku kangen. Kangen bangeeet pake anget. Ibu gak kangen ta? Kangen kan ya, ngehe. Buk selamat hari ibu ya. Gak tau mau ngasih apa dari sini. Kalau kue tart lagi, nanti kayak dulu waktu ulang tahun ibuk, pesen kue tart dari Texas dikirim ke rumah Surabaya yang bayar jadinya ibu bapak wkwk. Lolog

Buk, makasih ya udah jadi ibu(k) terasik sedunia. Asik diajak curhat, jalan-jalan, nongki sana sini dan nonton meskipun ujung-ujungnya bobok. Buk, aku puitis dikit ya.

Buk, maaf ya selama ini aku sibuk sendiri jadi bocah remaja. Keluyur sana sini sama temen, ngerjain tugas di luar rumah, dulu mondar-mandir urus osis, ekskul sekolah, afs, sampe hari sabtu minggu jadi jarang jalan-jalan sama ibuk bapak kayak biasanya.

Apalagi sekarang disini, di negeri Paman Sam. Jauuuh banget kerasa bedanya. Jadi kangen waktu salim, meluk, nyium Ibu. Bentar lagi balik. Buk tau gak setiap hari aku mikirin nanti kalau waktu balik terus ketemu ibuk bapak kudu gimana. Lempar koper, lari, meluk, nyium terus terbang bareng atau gimana.

Ohya puitisnya belom.

Semoga sehat selalu, rezekinya lancar jaya dan semoga Ibu bahagia punya keluarga teryahud sedunia. Udahan ya Bu aku nangis ini, nanti lama-lama rumah host family banjir tangisan anak irit.

Anak terindah uopose,

Ajeng/Nelva/Pang

Ibu kangen kan, ini bonus foto terbaru pake hijab disini. Semoga pakai hijab sampai seterusnya ya.
